Jobs, bras and weeds!

I was talking to a friend the other day about how she left an old job and started a new one. She is so happy with her new position and glad that she had the courage to made the jump…. you know it is a jump when you leave something familiar and take a risk into unknown.

Sometimes we need to just JUMP!

Sometimes we need to just JUMP!

As we were talking it became very apparent that for some of us when we make the leap we find ourselves saying, “I would have done this sooner if I had know how unhealthy the last place was!” It’s not until we are in a new environment that we can see what a productive and healthy place looks and feels like. For girls it is like getting a new bra after wearing the old one for so long and the “Ahh” moment of wearing the new one. Better support, better fitting, better look and feel…okay off the subject a bit, sorry boys that are reading. (please send me your examples.)

Seriously, it is amazing what we put up with and accept when it becomes the norm……Especially when it is all we have known. We tend to lose sight of what good healthy boundaries are, what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. When we are just focused on getting through the day, one foot in front of the other, or when it has been part of our surroundings for so long that we forgot what healthy looks and feels like. This is true not only with jobs but within our homes and relationships too.

It is important not to numb out and lose sight of what is healthy and acceptable. To keep our awareness up so that we don’t start to allow the unacceptable and unhealthy to become a part of our everyday life. Remember people treat us the way we allow them to treat us.

We may not need to leave a job, but we might need to weed a bit in the gardens of our lives, clearing out the stuff that really hinders new growth, peace and everyday joy! So Jump or Weed (or go buy a new bra)…..just live and live well!
