Comings and Goings…..

Transitions are always tricky. Coming home from vacation, new job, new marriage, just graduating into adult life, end of a relationship, moving, rolling out Christmas and then putting it away. We get comfortable with the norm, what we are use to….then life changes. Even if it is good change it can be uncomfortable, like a great new pair of shoes that we need to wear a bit before they fit just right.

I was thinking about this last night when my little ones came back from their Dad’s house. They have a transition every couple days. Going between Mom and Dad’s homes. Sometimes it flows and is easy for all of us and other times we have what I call “Re-Entry”. A time to adjust to the different surroundings. Even as we try to create the same routine and life under these two roofs, it can’t be the same. I am a mother and he is a father. By nature we are set up to be different. We both love our children deeply but have different gifts that we bring to their life. We look at life through different lenses, neither wrong or right just different.

As I like to say…Change comes without permission. My sweet children didn’t ask for this life, they were handed it. But I do believe that through God’s grace, lots of prayer and a mother and fathers great love for them they will find love, security and maybe even a bit of humor within the transitions of their life. Like all of us we just want to be loved, feel secure and most of all comfortable within our life. This takes understanding, gentleness and a load of grace through each transition we walk though.

Today wherever you findĀ  yourself, may you feel God’s presence and grace within the comings and goings of your life.
