Yesterday I was given the gift of celebrating an amazing woman that passed away this past week. Joan was a deeply loving, caring, smart and funny woman that lit up a room with her smile. As difficult as the service was there was joy in the mist of deep sorrow. Through tears, words and incredible music sung and spoken by some of her favorite boys, her spirit was still there and I am certain she was smiling. She was a true testament of putting one foot in front of the other despite many challenges and pain, living the life she was given with amazing grace, faith, love and humor. As I woke this morning I smiled at the fact that even though we will all miss her so, she is free, healed and dancing with great joy with her King and will be celebrating His birthday with him this year.
Over two thousand years ago, we received an amazing gift. However, it can be easy to forget to be thankful for this undeserved gift. Many don’t know how to accept such a gift, while some of us accept the gift but fail to unwrap all the blessings and love that go with it. Joan knew how to do this and did. This Christmas may you accept, receive and unwrap the most priceless Christmas gift ever given, it’s wrapped in swaddling clothes and sacrificial love. It is the most priceless gift you will receive and one that keeps giving until your days here on earth are done. Then, just like Joan you can celebrate Christmas in His presence!
We will miss you sweet Joan……..All my love boys, I know you made her so proud yesterday.
Beautifully said, Merrill. Although I didn’t know her, my heart and prayers go out to their family.
