Life interupted……

Oh my, has it been a long time since I blogged! I think I had a BLOG PAUSE! Actually “life” just happened. You know how life can be rolling along and then you get side swiped by something. My story is this, and I am sticking to it.

Spring is always busy, not too sure why but it is…end of school…work…kids…getting ready for summer…and then the side swipe hit me. It made me think of that Nat King Cole song…”I was walkin along, minding my business…then WHAM!” A wicked cold! Now I have to say I am not a great sick person, I like to be well. I like to have energy. And everything seems so big when you feel bad, just getting dressed or having to talk is a big darn deal when your body aches and your nose is full of foreign matter. I was totally drained, not a drop left. It was time to rest and restore, which I did to the best of my ability. Full day in bed, then tried to slow life down to only the basics. It’s funny how we think we have it all under control, but we don’t. Just a simple cold can show you that some things you can’t control. LIFE INTERUPTED.

As I was trying to bury myself in the bed I remembered the verse “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 16-18

Well, I was praying for sure, that he would either take me now or heal my body! But the giving thanks is always a funny one especially when you are not in a great place. The secret is one little word in the verse…..in. Give thanks IN all circumstances not FOR all circumstances. We are not going to say “Hey God thanks for the cold!” but we can say “Thanks God for the comfort, peace, wisdom, direction, rest, healing……you provide within the cold.” Whenever we face difficult, trying or painful circumstances we don’t have to give thanks for the circumstance but we do need to give a BIG shout out of THANKS to our loving God who provides just what we need within the moment. Any moment.

We will always have interruptions in life but remember to take a moment and look for what you can give thanks for. As for me it was soup brought by a son, flowers by a friend, a ride from a mother, grace from clients, kisses from a daughter, ice from a sister and lots of love and prayers sent from friends. Joy and comfort within the sickness… Thanks God!

What can you give thanks for today?
