I was power walking with Sunshine this morning trying to get in shape to be the “Mother of the Groom”, plus my 30 year high school reunion is a week later. Can you spell MOTIVATION? While walking I was going over things in my head when I started coaching myself, we life coaches do that sometimes….
“What’s going well in your life?”
“I am Successful….I am a good mother to 5 amazing children, I am working doing what I love and am good at….”
“I am Blessed….I have a roof over my head, food to eat, family, friends, Sunny the dog to walk with me, and a God who loves me….”
“I have a healthy body…legs that can walk and run, eyes that see, ears that hear, arms that can hug, and a voice that is heard, brain that still thinks….”
Then I got quiet for a few steps and something whispered to my heart….
“And you are Mine….”
It was so clear, I said out loud….”I Belong.”
Wow did I need to hear that. I have been feeling a bit more single than usual this summer, not knowing where I belong or fit. It has been almost 7 years of freedom and this summer for the first time I felt like a boat looking for a dock to tie up to. Don’t know if it’s the wedding and having to plan it alone, if it’s the 7 year “single” itch? Maybe it’s that so many belong to me, I would love to have someone to rest my head, heart and concerns on. Someone to belong to too. Who knows, we all have our ups and downs in the seasons of our lives, and if you know me this has been one tough summer season…pity party for one please!
But this morning I was reminded that I do belong. I do have a dock to tie up to. I can rest my head, heart and concerns on him. I just need to throw him the line and let him pull me in.
Everyone wants to belong and this morning I was reminded I do. Thanks for the walk you two!
Great post, that’s very inspirational after a looooooong week!
I love Sunshine. Those Labradoodles are the best dogs. I love to take my Tebow (black lab) with me when I exercise. Can’t believe you are mother of the groom. Try to relax and enjoy it. Maybe we can have a power walk one of the days. I’m usually in town only long enough to turn around. But I’d love to walk.
Oh Jamie, I would love to walk if you are in town and have the time. We will take Sunshine with us. Are you coming for the reunion? Hope to see you soon….oh the things we could ponder together on a great walk!
Peace,
Merrill
