Show up

This past weekend was Andrew, my third son’s graduation from the Culinary Institute of America in NY. It was such an amazing time of celebration, joy and family. As the family made the journey to be there for Andrew it hit me. This is what we do. We are a Tribe. We show up to all the important events and happenings in lives of the ones we love. It is what gives our life meaning and memories. We put life on hold for a minute to celebrate one of our own. From the minute Andrew saw our faces the smile never left his. He was so proud and happy for us to show up and be there for him. For us….all 11 of us, we would not have missed it for the world. He is this amazing boy that has worked so hard and pursued his passion. He went from boy to young man on this journey and he did it on his own. As we sat around the table at the graduation we shared stories, laughed, teared up (well I did), gave toasts celebrating this wonderful achievement of Andrew’s.

I can’t begin to say how much it means to show up. Don’t miss it, it flies by in the wink of an eye. Be there. Celebrate the big and the little events that create, molds and forms the lives of the ones we love the most. We might not have all the riches in the world but as we sat around that table it was understood, we are the wealthiest family I know. Rich in LOVE.
