A day to reflect…..

The day after Christmas and what a Christmas it was……. A few of my favorite things:

Christmas Eve service and serving communion as a family. The wonderful way Jackson and Grace looked at all that came through their line and saying, ” This is the body of Christ broken for you!” Well done sweet babies, I am glad you get it and can share it with others.

There has been such pain and loss this season, David and I reflected on how last Christmas Eve we spent in the emergency room for him, not knowing if he was going to be okay….he was and is….thank goodness…… life is so fragile, we are so blessed.

Santa’s elves were great to Mama this year. It must be true that Santa is always watching…how else would he have known that I wanted that JOY pillow so bad? Everyone got what was number one on their list.  I smiled at Michael sewing on his new sewing machine before 9am on Christmas day. It was love at first sight! There are sure to be more handmade gifts in our future. Andrew in his new cooking clogs cookin up a big pot of greens, Jackson shooting us all with Nerf guns, Grace’s mouth full of candy and music in her ears, and David loading his new laundry basket ( yes he asked for it!) up with all Santa’s goodies!

Uncle Kris quizzing the kids on Luke 21-20….and saying they had to get all 3 questions right to open gifts! Grace had the look of fear, while Jackson very confident in his bible knowledge!  Uncle Kris’s humor blesses us all.

Darts, corn hole, basketball, caroling, eating, laughing, Movie watching…..we love to be together and play together.

Being blessed with Pather’s gift of wisdom Christmas night….reminding us, “He who hews his own wood is twice as warm, nothing is ever as good or as bad as you thing, the only thing constant is change, learn to listen, take time to tell others what a wonderful job they are doing, Change your actions, change your habits, change your attitude…change your world. Don’t just get a life, get a GREAT life, it’s yours for the taking!” Best Gift of all is a Father who loves us deeply and shares his knowledge and humor with us through this tough journey we call life.

It was a wonderful Christmas, blessed with amazing family and friends. I had to ponder this morning how in mid-October I was worried what Christmas would look like. Money tight, small house and starting a new business. It is amazing how God knows just what you need and provides every time when we are faithful and believe. For our household it has always been a bit like manna….not too much, not too little…..Just exactly what we all needed.
