Anyone that is really close to me knows that I feel rich when my pantry and gas tank are full! What more could you really want? Okay the bills paid too. But if you have yummy food to eat, and gas to get you where you want to go is anything else really needed?
Simple thinking I know. Yes, there is always a cute pair of shoes that might catch my eye or a big bunch of fresh flowers that call my name, but on a whole I am a simple girl. Which is a good thing since I have started working with a financial coach. Yes, the coach has a coach! I have the “Life” part of coaching down really well but the money stuff could use some tweaking. It was after we had our first meeting that a few things were made very clear.
One: It all belongs to God.
Two: Get to the bottom line of what it takes to live. Face the fear of the numbers.
Three: Live on what you make.
Now over the years I have fought hard against that B word. You know the one I am talking about the Bu-Bu-Budget word. Oh no, don’t box me in! Yikes!! But after being on a budget for a week I am realizing that it isn’t boxing me in, it is freeing me up. What do they say…”The truth shall set you free!” To know what comes in and what goes out, then inviting God into the process, I have found peace. That was until the other day when I realized that candles were another one of my needs, just like food and gas! I had forgotten to mention them to my new coach and they were about all burnt out! I mentioned it to a dear friend that it might have to be candles over food. I had not added candles as a line item OH NO! I need them to live!
Well, today as I was getting ready to do the 143,085 load of laundry of my life I found a wonderful surprise! A big bag of candles, all different wonderful smells. Thank goodness for friends that know what it takes to make us feel not only rich but loved! Now with a full pantry, tank of gas and house full of good smelling candles burning I feel incredibly rich and blessed! The budget is safe and life goes on with a sweet, sweet smell!
Thanks Candle Fairy….You know who you are!
