Open Hands….Open Hearts

Posted by on Oct 8, 2009 in General | 0 comments

Last night we had the fifth class in the Sweetly Broken series that I lead. It is always a powerful night. We meet in the wonderful little chapel of our church and come together for a time of worship, Communion and prayer. In the first four classes we discussed all the difficult emotions that hold us back and get in our way of leading a healthy, whole and joyful life. In the four weeks prior to tonight we have cried together, laughed together, hugged, encouraged and prayed for each other. We have talked about all those emotions we have picked...

Go and “Get” it!

Posted by on Oct 4, 2009 in General | 1 comment

Instead of “I HAVE to…” try “I GET to…” for a change. You can wake up saying, I HAVE to go to church or I GET to go to church and be blessed today. I HAVE to exercise or I GET to exercise because my body still can. I HAVE to go to work or I GET to go to work because I still have a job! The battle is always won or lost in the mind. With a slight shift in words our attitudes and life can change and find more gratitude in what we do. Watch your HAVE’s and see what you GET today!

Out of the mouths of grown sons!

My oldest, who is 23 is taking one of my Life Coaching workshops. It is so much fun to have him in the class, I actually feel honored that he would take it. As we were leaving yesterday he said with surprise in his voice…. “Mom, you are really good at this! You know teaching all these workshops is like playing in small venues (interpretation: small dive bars) ……. you just need to be discovered!” It made me feel so proud and giggle so hard! One, that he thinks I am good at what I do and two, that he thinks I...

MY Big Fat Messy Life…..

Posted by on Oct 2, 2009 in General | 0 comments

Don’t you know those days that you wake up and think…..Is this really my life? How did I get here? This is not what I expected. Not what I planned for. Life can throw us curve balls and sometimes we didn’t even know we were in the game, much less be prepared to catch the ball. We are great at making the plans, plotting out our life, knowing the path we want to take then LIFE HAPPENED…..LIFE  interrupted our plans. LIFE got messy. One of the biggest obstacles that I see in working with people is our expectation of what...

Finding the FUN in your day!

Posted by on Oct 1, 2009 in General | 1 comment

I am reading this great book called 7 Habits of a Healthy Home by Bill Carmichael.  Wonderful read, it addresses you personally as well as a member of a family and as a parent. One of the girls in my group mentioned that the quote under the title of the next chapter made her think of me. The chapter is Celebration: Is Life Good and under it is a quote from Billy Graham, “I want to be remembered as someone who was fun to live with.”Billy Graham Now I don’t know if I am fun to live with, my kids could argue that one on certain...

Re-Entry…..Ugggggh!

Posted by on Sep 28, 2009 in General | 0 comments

I think that it is so funny how it catches me off guard every time……. You step out of LIFE for a day or two, then try to just cut back in on LIFE and you can’t remember the beat? It’s like your dance partner is saying…” Don’t you know this dance?” or “Two Left feet?” Yes, that’s what it feels like to me. Very Awkward! It always feels like the beat is too fast I can’t get my footing or balance, but sure enough we end up meeting somewhere in the middle… and it feels...

The NOW Factor

Posted by on Sep 24, 2009 in General | 0 comments

What’s in your “NOW”? You know, your present life. What’s in this moment? We all get so caught up with the past and worrying about the future that we miss the NOW factor. The life that is happening all around us in this day. You know the quote, “Today is a gift that is why they call it the present.” But so often we don’t even acknowledge the gift,  don’t open the present….. much less enjoy it. It’s easy to miss life if we are looking for another one while walking discontented through...

The Birthday Gift!

Posted by on Sep 23, 2009 in General | 4 comments

I decided that for my birthday I would give myself the gift of quiet……I am up in NC at our family home…. just Sunshine, the infamous dog and myself. How blessed to have a place to come and quiet my mind, allow space for my thoughts to move, form, land and take root. To just be. Be with God, be with myself, be with nature. It is in these quiet moments that I find comfort, peace, direction and I come back to that center place inside where I know who I am and what is true for my life. It’s a place that I can safely ask...

Forgiveness  cannot be a …..I forgive you …..IF or When. It has to be ……I forgive you because I MUST forgive you in order to live fully. FORGIVE Forgive Pray for those who hurt you That is what He says That is what He did I’m not even sure I can utter their name much less pray for them They hurt me They walked away They replaced me They lied about me All this from someone who said they loved me Now I am suppose to pray My heels dig in My heart feels hard Lord, what about me? I am in pain Will there ever be anyone for...
