Choose Wisely

Posted by on Sep 17, 2009 in General | 1 comment

Last night in a Sweetly Broken class they asked me to post this, it is a quote from one of my favorites…Henri Nouwen and very true in life. “The important thing to remember is that we might not have a choice in regard to the circumstances of our life BUT in regard to the way we respond to these circumstances. Some people become bitter as they grow old….while others grow old joyfully. It doesn’t mean that the life of those who become bitter was any harder or more difficult that the one who is joyful…It means...

Fear Not~ it’s all about where your focus is!

Posted by on Sep 16, 2009 in General | 0 comments

My FB Friend Ron Holmes posted this today and I thought it was so good I had to share it……”U can tell the size of UR FAITH in God by looking at the size of UR worry list. The longer UR list, the smaller UR FAITH. Fear tolerated is FAITH contaminated! What are U worried about? Fear knocks, but it can’t STAY in the same house as Jesus! What U FOCUS on EXPANDS!” I love this!!!! Today I was really wrestling with fear and did God just speak to me through a FB friend? Again, giggle. I am afraid, no pun on words,  to...

Home isn’t always a street address

Posted by on Sep 14, 2009 in General | 0 comments

I woke up this morning and realized that “Home” is not so much about walls and a roof, it’s the people around you and feeling safe, loved and accepted for who you are. The comfortable feeling you have being with the ones that mean the most, and the real conversations and laughter shared together. I am at HOME today, even though I am miles away from my street address! Home really is where the HEART is! May you find yourself at HOME everyday.

Celebrate Some Amazing Grandparents!

Posted by on Sep 11, 2009 in General | 0 comments

So do you think….like I think, that Grandparents day is a made  up Hallmark holiday? Well, there is a way to make a real difference this Sunday with the Grandparents all around the World. Did you know that over 100 million older people live on less than $1 a day, by 2015 one in five of us will be over 60 and many children that lost their parents to aids are being raised by their grandparents. If you want to help please take a peek at www.helpageusa.org My wonderful Aunt who was with CARE for years has now taken the position as...

Praise Him in the Morning, Praise Him in the Noontime!

Posted by on Sep 10, 2009 in General | 2 comments

I know life can be tough! Boy, do I know life can be tough….But one thing that I also know to be true is that I am called daily to Praise my God.  Now Praising God is not a magic formula for success. It is a way of life. It is also more than just a change in attitude, even though an attitude adjustment might be needed! It is remembering like the song says  “You are God alone, in the good times and bad, You are God alone, You are on your throne…” His Character never changes….He is omnipotent and remains in...

Just Swing!

Posted by on Sep 8, 2009 in General | 2 comments

It’s all too easy to just focus on what still needs to be done, check marks that need checking, lists that need crossing.  BUT equally important is not to forget how far you have come. You’ve come a long way baby! Take time to turn around and look back, see what you have accomplished….. Pause. Celebrate! Pat yourself on the back! Praise! It is when I am swinging, with the sun on my face that I hear God saying, “Well done my faithful girl!” And I am gently reminded that nothing can separate me from His love.  He...

Hello, are you there?

Posted by on Sep 6, 2009 in General | 1 comment

So on the way to church I was wrestling with God about, now get this, Loneliness….hummm? Surprised? I know I have a full life, filled with love, support, family and friends. But sometimes I wonder if my shoulders a broad enough, I get tired and life can seem so big. I was saying “God Can you hear me?” I actually said out loud, ” I am lonely.” Something I don’t usually say. It’s not for lack of people, or things to fill my life with, it’s from doing it alone. Something single people, well really...

Do I hear the Wham-bulance??

Posted by on Sep 3, 2009 in General | 1 comment

I love the line from the movie The Kid, where someone is whining about something and the main character says” Wait! Let me call the Wham-bulance!” It’s true! Anthony J. D’Angelo says….”If we have the time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to do something about it!”  Amen. The real issue is what are you going to do about it? It’s your life. Excuses, blame and regret all lead you to a dead end. Every time you whine, complain or make excuses for your life  you are...

Being There!

Posted by on Sep 2, 2009 in General | 0 comments

Never underestimate the power of your presence nor your ability to comfort and encourage. Lord, thank You for my friends that uplift me, encourage me, pray for me and support me. May we all be open to how God can use each of us to do His work. Challenge for the day….If you tell someone you are going to pray for them…JUST DO IT. Right then, it will have a powerful effect on both your lives and will mean more to them than you will ever know. Too often we walk away with good intentions and in the busyness of the day forget to pray....
