The Highs and the Lows and the Ho Ho Ho’s!

Posted by on Dec 23, 2010 in General | 0 comments

The Season has been a whirl for me, is it really December  23nd? Wow! I have not blogged since the 9th and yet so much has filled my days since then. For me to sit and put my thoughts down takes a little quiet and definitely time, which I guess there has been shortage of. BUT today I have a smidge of both so here goes…The highs, the lows and the HoHoHo’s of the last few weeks. (this could be a long one…sorry!) The biggest High of this season is that my sweet son David got engaged to his long time love Morgan. Every time I...

Life interrupted….

Posted by on Dec 9, 2010 in General | 1 comment

I am co-leading an Advent study and last week we talked about divine interruptions. Yes, God can throw us a few of those here and there too. We talked about sweet Joseph and how he must have felt when he found out Mary was prego with Jesus. Talk about an interruption! Well, we can have interruptions that can be pretty hard to swallow too. Maybe not a divine pregnancy but certainly things that have caused us to stop dead in our tracks and ask, “Are you kidding me!”, “Seriously, what were you thinking God?”, “How...

A BIG Imperfect Gift!

Isn’t it funny how others perceive us through our Facebook updates or posts. Yes, I have been called the “Upload-er” due to how fast I get picture posted. I also post life coaching tips everyday, and with this people get a glimpse into my life. I frequently hear…. “You have a great life….What a wonderful family…. You all look so happy and have so much fun….” Perception is tricky.  Yes, our life is good, it can be fun and at times very happy. But the truth is that my family is just as real...

Dating 101

Posted by on Nov 10, 2010 in General | 2 comments

An update on the boy situation, because you asked. Yes, he is still around. Yes, he is still authentically himself. And yes, I still enjoying being with him….interesting. Just a few thoughts and insights that I have learned over these weeks of dating 101. 1. As women we can expect, want and think we need someone to rescue us. Insight: Men don’t rescue, God does. If we are lucky God provides someone to come up along side us to do life with us as a partner. 2. Likewise, we girls can feel the need to save too. Game show NO...

Great Old Book

Posted by on Nov 4, 2010 in General | 0 comments

In 1997 my sister Kristin gave me the book Simple Abundance; a Day Book of Comfort and Joy, and here in 2010, I still read it. What a wonderful book of comfort, joy and wisdom. After plowing though the first year I now rarely read the day I am suppose to. I always just throw out to God, “What do you have for me today?” Then open the book and read. This is how I read my bible too most days, it is amazing how he responds to my callings, cries and screams. Today was Worry about Money. Funny God, how did you know? Oh, I know we all are...

Quirky 4 Lettered Word

Posted by on Oct 28, 2010 in General | 0 comments

Isn’t it funny how we use the word LOVE? “I LOVE that color….I LOVE those brussel sprouts….I LOVE your hair…. I LOVE that song….I LOVE those shoes…. I LOVE that movie…..I LOVE that house….I LOVE the Gators…..Cars, chocolate, sheets, trees….. Then….  I LOVE you. It’s weird we don’t have more ways to express such a powerful emotion and feeling. We are so limited.  I have to admit that I do use this interesting incredible 4 letter word a lot. In fact one of my...

I’ll have the fish!

I read something yesterday that I just loved…. “Every “yes” is a “no” to something.” We can’t say “yes” to everything, but we need to weigh which “yes” is the most life-giving in this moment. Everything we invite into our lives takes a certain amount of time, energy, care and attention. We have a choice. This was an interesting weekend and I had to take pause and ask what “yes’s” in my life are life-giving. I had to say “no” to somethings this...

Faith Warriors!

Faith…when we hear this word it stirs up so many different feelings and emotions within each of us. Recently I  heard a famous TV preacher respond to a statement while being interviewed on a morning talk show, “You just make faith look easy?” As I was getting dressed watching this morning show, praying he would respond well to the millions of morning viewers watching…..For we were all heading out to tackle the world and the challenges we each face….. Please give us a good straight, honest answer! This man SMILED...

Wrong Answer

So a while back I decided to jump back on the ole EHarmony dating train. Yes, UGH!! What’s a girl to do who does life coaching for a living and is known to love Jesus so much I think it scares most to set me up. My assumption has been that others think I am too pure (they must not know me), that I might quote scripture (maybe not on the first date, but it is the foundation for my life) or even better, I might lay hands on them ( I am pretty touchy feelie, I like to hit, grab and hug even strangers, but I save the laying on of hands until...

Terrible Awful Day!

Posted by on Oct 14, 2010 in General | 2 comments

So, Grace came in from school yesterday and I heard the tears as she entered the backdoor….not loud, but very sad. She came in a sat on the couch and said it was a “Terrible Awful Day!” There is a little girl in her class that had been bullied and it was very upsetting to Grace that people could be so mean.  I asked her if she needed something cool to drink since she looked so hot from the bike ride home. She looked up at me with big tears in her eyes and said…. “No, I think I need a life coach!” I giggled...
