Mountain Air……Morning Chats

Some days we just have to quiet ourselves… our spirits, hearts and minds…. our world, to really hear what God wants to speak into our life.. He comes in a whisper and that can be hard to hear in our busy loud lives! May you find some quiet and hear what he has to say to you! I am in North Carolina getting ready for a Girls Retreat. We have 30 women coming and I am so excited to see what God has in store for them and me! If you read my Moses Moments you know that I was a bit apprehensive about what I was to speak on. And even as I was heading up here I still have not quite wrapped my mind around what God wanted me to say. Oh I knew the theme and topics but...

Sabbath Saturday

Posted by on Jan 23, 2010 | 0 comments

YEAH, It’s Saturday!!!! My day for “Fruitful Uselessness” of rest, play and delight! There is something wonderful about doing nothing of significance. Just to be. I read all about this in a wonderful book a few years back called SABBATH by Wayne Muller. I love the book, it has kind of become a hand book for life in my house and it’s fresh look at what Sabbath can mean in our lives and in our homes. Mark 2:27 says….”You are not made for the Sabbath, the Sabbath was made for YOU!” I think sometimes we just get that backwards and don’t really grasp what a gift a sabbath moment can be. So today I am going to play, lay, write,...

Moses Moments

I have been preparing for a woman’s retreat which I feel blessed to be a part of. We have a wonderful  “Team” of girls ( 3 of us) who all have unique gifts and talents. There is someone to organize the housing, fun and meals. Then someone to handle the money and maps on how to get there. I get the worship slice of the pie. Music and Jesus. This is community in action! As I am preparing I am very prayerful about what it is that God wants to say to these women. As always it is not about me but what God want’s to speak into each of our lives, mine included. Sometimes as the very human girl that I am, I can feel enormous responsibility or pressure to...

“Help, I need somebody….”

Love this Beatles song. It is how we all feel at times but we just don’t sing it loud enough. Everybody needs a little help now and then, but we don’t ask. We either are too arrogant to ask….I can do it myself! Or embarrassed to ask….Others will know I am a mess and don’t have it together! Or maybe we just don’t think anyone really cares. WRONG! This is a song that I have learned to sing loudly over the last few years. Being a single mom, trying to start a business, juggling life, bills, children, house repairs and all the unexpected things life throws at you. I have had to yell “Help!” Now let me tell you this was not...

Truth

I was pondering truth this morning. We all say we want truth and have heard….. ” The truth shall set you free!” Well, yes but at times the truth can be hard to swallow. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable or painful to take a honest look at your life. What is working and what isn’t. I encourage my clients to surround themselves with people who love them and will speak truth their life.  Most people immediately nod and say “YES!”. But it isn’t that simple or easy. Do we really know what to do with truth when we hear it? There is Nice Truth and then the Difficult Truth When someone says “You look great!” or “Good...

What a week last week and then the COLD weekend! I don’t think I have been warm in a week and I am in my mid 40’s, I am always HOT! Somewhere I think there is a balance, but as you know balance in anything is hard to come by. Whether dieting, exercising, family time, me time, work and even the weather right now. Balance once in place is hard to maintain. Oh, I think you can create a fairly good schedule and routine, having systems in place that help keep you close to being “in” balance. But I believe the big shift in thinking is awareness,  keeping your eyes and heart open to all that is going on daily within your life and your response to it....
