20 Tips for a Positive and Productive 2013

1. BEGIN. The greatest miracle of your success will not be that you finished but that you had the courage to begin! So get up and get moving today.

2. PRAY. C.S. Lewis wrote: “I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I am helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God. It changes me.”  And remember the two most powerful prayers are. “Help and Thank-you!” Simple and heard…always.

3. LET GO.  The 3 things that you cannot change is the past, the truth and others.  Accept the things you cannot change. What you resist, persists. If you are resisting something, you are feeding it. Don’t feed the beast. Choose to accept what is, be proactive and positive and you will find peace in the process.

4. Check your FOCUS DAILY. Life gets better when you choose to make it so.  The only difference between the bitter and joyful person is that different choices were made. CHOOSE JOY DAILY.

5. WORDS. Less is more and when spoken make sure they are kind, necessary and true. Ask yourself, are your words productive or destructive? Uplifting or do they tear down others or you? Out of the Abundance of our hearts our mouths speak. Watch your heart and your mouth.

6. The 4 L’s.  LINGER, LISTEN, LOVE, AND LAUGH. When we linger with those we love, we hear and are heard, we feel loved and laughter always shows up.

7. Focus on the Get To’s rather than getting stuck in the Have To’s. You will always find blessings tucked into the Get To’s, instead of the bitterness found in the Have To’s.

8. You are an EXAMPLE, yes you! It’s not about what you say; it’s about how you live your life every day. You impact your homes, neighborhoods and communities more than you know.  Let your actions always be loud, caring, kind and loving.

9. Be PRODUCTIVE not BUSY. Tim Ferris says, “Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. “  Put first things first and get them done each day.

10. “God always makes a way out of no way.” Rev. Veronica Goines
Know when to get out of the way!

11. LOVE YOU. God has placed everything within you to become the best possible version of YOU.  Believe you can. Believe that you are enough.  Smart enough, strong enough, capable enough, and courageous enough to achieve your goals, dreams and visions.

12.  Spend Time with the RIGHT PEOPLE.  Don’t waste time trying to impress others or wanting their acceptance. Remember you are the sum of those you spend the most time with. True friends remind us of who we are when life becomes difficult or if we have forgotten.

13. Chose MEANING over Pleasure. Pleasure is not always bad; in fact it can be good most of the time. But when pleasure drives us, we can end up living a sad and lonely story.  Meaning allows the roots of our lives to grow deeper and stronger so that when the strong winds of life come we still stand.

14. When making decisions and daily choices, always ask yourself,  “Is this in my best interest and well-being? The best for those under my roof? Then move forward with the NEXT BEST THING.

15. Get out of your COMFORT ZONES Daily. Growth, blessings and adventures are always found outside the borders of your comfort zones. Big toe in or a cannonball leap, just get out!

 16.  Smile more, Complain less, Forgive always, Laugh often, Hug and Kiss, and say I love you to at least one person a day, even if they have 4 legs!

17. Take TIME FOR YOU.  The Fruitful Uselessness of play, rest and delight can feed your soul and allow you to listen to what your heart has to say. No one can take better care of you than you. You do not have a soul, you are a soul and you have a body, take care of both this year.

18. Each night before bed ask yourself: Where were the serendipity’s of the day? Where did I see God? What did I accomplish? Who did I love? What am I grateful for? You will see you did more and were given more than you thought.

19. Learn your LESSONS. Everything is a life lesson.  Each person you meet, every change that blows in, every mountain to climb are all part of the learning experience we call life. Every time we are presented with a lesson, if learned, we are one step close to where we want to be. Be a good learner.

20. Keep it SIMPLE and THRIVE where you are then watch what blooms! Remember, “Unto us, so much is given. We just have to be open for business.” Anne Lamott
